Destination Wedding at Ekies Resort
Madalina and Andrei exchanged vows at Ekies All Senses Resort after falling in love with Greece’s Halkidiki peninsula. To complement their waterfront venue, the couple settled on a color palette of light coral, lavender, blush, light steel blue and dark sea green.
“There were four main parts on that day and all of them were special,” says Madalina. The day started with “the hair, make-up and clothes arrangements, which were made in separate locations, one only men and one only women so that the groom and bride won’t be able to intersect before the wedding. Then there was the civil ceremony which took place on the beach, afterward the religious ceremony in a small, old but very beautiful church up on a hill and not least, the party, where everyone enjoyed the whole arrangements and danced and talked a lot about the future.”

“We are both very fond of Greece and we always thought of a small wedding in this lovely country, having with us only close members of our family and our godparents. We enjoyed choosing the bright color theme for us and our guests’ clothing and also a very relaxed style of clothing trying to fit the Greek views,” explains Madalina.
The couple chose to weave tradition into much of their wedding day and started off the celebration by getting ready separately. In another nod to tradition, Madalina wore a ring that belonged to Andrei’s grandma who “passed away 10 years ago and who raised him since he was a child.” Once the couple was dressed, with Andrei sporting a stylish pink suit jacket, they exchanged vows not once, but twice. First, they held a civil ceremony overlooking the ocean before tying the knot a second time in a church.
Once the couple was twice wed, they celebrated with a brightly-colored waterfront wedding reception. Not only did the couple’s vibrant color palette come through in their floral designs, but they also wove it through the rental items they included in their tablescape design. Blue napkins, green plates and yellow bud vases made the tabletop pop. In the end, the entire wedding celebration was both a beautiful celebration of love and a visually enticing event that effortlessly complemented the chosen seaside venue.
Looking back on the wedding day Madalina notes that “it is very important to plan an event first for you and then for the guests because it is your event and you should wear smiles on your faces all day. If you will be happy and if you select at your event only people that love you, everyone will be happy and anything you will choose will be perfect for everyone.”
